It is important to know where your food comes from!

When I was in college, one of my classmates told me a story about how a girl in their dorm told them that she didn’t understand why we still had farms. She told him that food comes from the grocery store, anyway.

It’s amazing how many people do not know where their food comes from.

I majored in agriscience education in college, and taught agricultureĀ in high school for 2.5 years, before teachingĀ English. People that do not live in the country are father detached from understanding and appreciating where their food comes from. I believe that every student should have to take one class in agriculture in their lifetime, so they can appreciate how hard farmers work and understand the process of growing/raising our food. If people are uneducated about where it comes from, they won’t be able to make informed decisions about the treatment of animals, pesticides, GMOS, etc.. and will vote on policies they know nothing about.
